Juventus Dominates Como: Motta’s Era Begins with Victory

Juventus kicked off their Serie A campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory against newly promoted Como, in what was a thrilling match for fans of the Bianconeri. The game marked Thiago Motta’s first competitive outing as Juventus manager, following his successful stint at Bologna where he secured a Champions League spot with a fourth-place finish last season.

Belgian sensation Samuel Mbangula, making his debut for Juventus, opened the scoring with a beautifully struck shot from just outside the penalty area. The 20-year-old forward showed incredible composure, setting the tone for what was to come. Timothy Weah, the USA international and son of legendary footballer George Weah, doubled Juventus’ lead just before halftime. Weah latched onto a pinpoint cross from Kenan Yildiz, slotting the ball into the net to score his first goal of the season.

As the match progressed, Juventus continued to assert their dominance. Despite some spirited play from Como, who were back in Serie A after a 21-year absence, the Old Lady’s defense remained unbreached. Italy defender Andrea Cambiaso put the icing on the cake in stoppage time with a sublime curling effort that found the bottom left corner, sealing a perfect start to the season for Juventus.

Cesc Fabregas, the former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona star, who recently stepped into management after serving as an assistant manager during Como’s promotion campaign, watched on as his team struggled to match Juventus’ intensity. Fabregas has taken on a challenging role as the manager of Como, and while this result will be a tough pill to swallow, it’s clear that the team has much to learn and room to grow in Italy’s top flight.

Juventus, on the other hand, are on a mission to reclaim the Serie A title, having gone four seasons without lifting the Scudetto. With Motta at the helm and a squad brimming with talent, they have every reason to be optimistic about their chances this season.

Looking ahead, Juventus will travel to face Verona in their next Serie A fixture on August 26. Meanwhile, Como will seek to bounce back from this defeat when they visit Cagliari. Both matches are set to provide further insight into how these teams will fare in the coming months, with Juventus aiming to build on their early momentum and Como eager to prove they belong among Italy’s elite.
